Haluan + PDT "34 + 35"

Haluan and PDT’s collaborative event, “34+35”, was a fun and interactive way to get folks up and out of their chairs. The event was centered around learning choreography for the remixed version of Ariana Grande’s song “34+35” featuring Doja Cat and Megan Thee Stallion. The Haluan and PDT coordinators taught two styles of dance, hip hop and traditional Filipino dance, each for separate parts of the song. They found the event to have gone well, saying that it was super fun to teach people and in turn learn a new form of dance.

The turnout from the community is another thing that the coordinators are satisfied with, as people from different aspects attended the event. They are also proud of the fact that they were able to put the event together in such a short time, and that they were able to do so virtually without any problems.

The event was received well by the attendees, who all seemed to enjoy the choreography. “The event was super fun! I really enjoyed the choreography we learned”, said Kayla Azad. “I loved the choreo”, agreed Sushmitha Varadha. “I really liked all the different styles that were taught”, said Chris Betancourt. “I thought the CO’s did a great job teaching the dances. It was very engaging and I liked how they stopped to ask us questions if we needed clarification.”

With the event now over, the coordinators feel both relieved and sad. Relieved because it went well, and people seemed to have fun. But sad because it’s over and they really enjoyed working together and seeing what each person came up with. The event can be re-lived, however, with this video of the coordinators and attendees alike dancing the taught choreography to the song.
